Why Fake News Needs to be Stopped
Because their extreme headlines reinforce what their readers already think, the fake news sites get their readers to share their links and get more advertising.

This sharing has the more insidious effect of pushing their readers to believe even more extreme opinions.

The ultimate effect is that the fake news has begun to get people to believe that the traditional media is false and biased.

This means that the fake news sites can now spoon feed their readers false information. The fake news sites got there by getting their followers to blindly share their articles after only reading the sensational headline; without even reading the article, let alone checking the facts they assert.
